In between flights from Jojo’s hole to mine, I noticed Beatrice leave home with her pelican fling in tow. We hardly see her since they started going out on those expensive dinner pecking on bird seed at The Crow Bar. Now their leaving for a flight to the south.

Jojo, Beatrice and I used to hang out a lot in her porch, we think that she got the best hole in the building, strategically located at the center with a good view of the opposite floors up and an even better view down. Directly opposite with Beatrice’s hole – Jane, the most beautiful bird in feathers. Beatrice hates her especially whenever she catches Jojo and I ogling at Jane while oiling her wing feathers. Beatrice always reminds us that Jane is not our kind and would never settle for cocks (male dove) like us, and she is right. The irony here is Beatrice going out with a pelican, now that is definitely not our kind! I don’t mind Jojo dating Betty the bat, which is not even a bird, but Beatrice with a pelican? If she wants big and tall birds, why not an ostrich?

Jojo and I started hanging out at his place, the good thing about Jojo and Betty is that they only see each other at night which leaves us both free the whole morning. I still don’t see this nocturnal thing working out for Jojo but he seems happy.  

Jojo did not fly by today, the night outs is beginning to toll on him. I’m left by myself from morning until sleep invites me back to the inner depths of my hole. The time alone I spend perched on the railing made me appreciate my place more, this morning, I noticed how bright and airy my hole is. Located at the topmost floor, I catch the first light that illuminates the whole room with radiance and a warmth and a good view of the city at sunset. While the light-deprived lower holes sit in the shadow, until high noon gives them a taste of light. Beatrice’s hole probably have molds by now, she hasn’t been around for the past few days flying with her pelican in their summer migratory flight.

In just a day, I learned that the hen, a floor below Jojo is having an affair with the cock beside Beatrice’s hole. At third floor, 6^th hole on the row, a pale-faced couple lived and they rarely go out, their thick curtains is constantly spread across the windows and I only get a glimpse of the two when they collected the mail outside the hole, and we always thought that that hole was abandoned. Johnny the banker dresses to work and leaves on a suit everyday only to come back on his hole after a few hours with a classifieds paper which he reads until the afternoon.  And Marie, she’s been a neighbor for years and I just noticed her now.  Two hours ago we shared short flights to the grocery to buy stuff, she invited me for lunch and she cooks fine. She’d be perfect for Jojo.

I’m thinking of selling my car. I rarely drive and I’m a terrible driver.  I want to fly and earn air miles for my wings. Fly south and start a dove migration or north as that would be easier to find. It’s magnetic.
